AM/FM radio silent (Page 1/1)

I have this radio from an '87 Fiero. The AM/FM radio is completely silent, like, not even any static. The tuning knob works, presets work, seek/scan work, just no sound.

When I looked around inside, I found (what looks like) a broken wiring connector and an empty slot for something. There is solder there, it was probably a joint, but there is no component there.

should there be something there?

Hard to say, without having been in a radio in a while. I can't think of anything that would have spanned that distance, inside a radio.
Is there a tape player? Does it make music? Or any sound at all, through the speakers?

Delco radios are bad to crack solder joints, especially around "heavy" components, like power amplifier chips, and heat sinks, and such.
Or there's always the possibility that all of your speakers are shot.
