how fallen apart is it? If it's not too bad, you can likely match up the size at the store with another

if it's dust, well.....

Even if the old one is disintegrated it may be possible to compare an O-ring to the groove to determine width, then place it onto the VSS housing, choosing one that doesn't quite fully fit over the housing.

For less than $9.00 you can get a whole kit at Harbor Freight. Compatibility to certain fluids is another story.

Standard black O-rings are ehh at best for this. Is likely why the old on is in pieces.
Viton takes more heat and oil/gas much better and why GM used it for Gas Line joints like Fiero gas filter, TBI lines, etc. Also on CPS on Fiero and other DIS engines.

HF also Viton ring kit

Hopefully have right size.
Seem has 2 small sizes use on fuel lines.

proper fit will touch inner diameter, narrow so just barely fill the groove side to side and outer diameter clears the groove.
Is so when push into whatever, that hole compresses the ring to seal but don't crush it.

I have several HF and other O-ring kits but are iffy and none fit many things I've tried.
Example: TBI test adapter cover in another thread and leaked, none HF kit has right rings for test port rotate part. Maybe ok about ID or OD but not both because ring itself is thick and won't fit.

why i was hoping someone had a number that works. the p-manual has a number but there is no cross reference that works with that number.

I've searched for the same thing and had the same conclusion. I have the part number but there is no replacement part available or cross reference.

Measure the o-ring with calipers, then find the size from here: https://www.exactseal.com/o...6S7XGuwaAkZmEALw_wcB

As Orge said, make sure you buy a Viton one. If you have an o-ring supplier near you, you can just take it in and they should be able to help you size it correctly.

I have this place near me, but you may have something similar: https://www.hitechseals.com...ts/o-rings.asp?lang=

Many places have Grainger stores but are "hidden" in industrial parks etc. and don't advertise. May have it in stock. If Not....
https://www.grainger.com/ca...CViton&filters=attrs

Have SAE and Metric and don't assume is Metric just because in Fiero and other 80's GM cars. Sometimes will interchange and work, other time will fail now or very soon.

Note: Several OE O-rings maybe Black but still are Viton. Brown/Tan are known to many but also come in Black for many uses/sizes. Also available in White and Blue for thing needing FDA approval for Food etc.
