Advice for 'tuning up' my 88 GT automatic transmission (Page 1/1)

I'm having issues with the Auto Lock-up on hot days after long drives. When I come to a stop, it acts like it is in 5th gear and kills. I have always been able to recover, but eventually I'm gonna get stranded so I have made an appointment at my local shop to have the transmission 'tuned up'.

I had this shop do my A/C upgrade and it went well. I supplied all the parts based on guidance I got here.

I'd like the same guidance for my transmission. I'm planning to supply these parts to the shop. (I'm not price shopping, so I'm getting the Fiero Store parts to make things easy for myself)
1. Auto Lock-Up Solenoid
2. Auto Trans Pressure Switch (because I've read you should replace that while replacing the solenoid)
3. Auto Trans Gasket & Filter Kit

Any other parts I should supply?
Should I have them replace the transmission fluid? (The shop expressed concerns about that because it is so old. They thought maybe I should leave it in)

Any other guidance?

As always, I appreciate anything you all have to offer on this.

Thanks!

⚠️ Warning: TTC solenoid must be install right.
It has Diode to block power surges and will fry if installed wrong.
Then the Coil can fry the ECM in short order if not instantly too.

Most TTC solenoid sold now only have short leads that need spliced to OE trans wiring.
+ go to 3rd gear switch wire
- go to plan wire that ends up at ECM

In the mean time, unplug the transmission.
On the front of unit w/ small latch.
Make sure loose plug won't close to or touch the exhaust.

That stops TCC from stalling at stop signs etc in traffic...

Thanks for the info.

Are there any other parts I should have them replace while they are doing the work?
