Porting a Series III supercharger? (Page 1/1)

Hello

I am planning to replace my Gen III with a brand new (no miles) Gen V blower. I spoke to a shop owner that I know who rebuilds superchargers and turbos for a living, and he claims that porting the inside of a supercharger doesn't do anything. My inlet is already going to match the Northstar TB, so no need to port the inlet

He did say that porting and polishing the LIM does help

Anyone with experience agree/disagree?

If you install the Gen V supercharger it should already be optimized for the highest efficiency for a unit that size. What you could do is open up the LIM opening to match the blower opening. for a 3.4" pulley I suggest adding a intercooler.

Thanks Dennis

I am planning to get the 2.5 full stack ZZP intercooler for it.

So you are suggesting porting the intake manifold to match the new gaskets?

My current Gen III blower has a 3.0 pulley. I am guessing I need to go up a couple of sizes with the Gen V?

There are a few videos showing where to remove material, discussions etc. I don’t have any links but it just opens up any air restriction. I’m not sure if you’ll need to modify the decklid to fit 2-1/2” ? My LIM was ported by someone else. After you get rid of your pulley it should look something like

Hello

I remember seeing a thread a while ago about doing a blower upgrade

I have a Series III N/A block with a Gen III blower, full stack ZZP intercooler, Northstar TB

Recently purchased a brand new Gen V blower, full stack ZZP IC for it, new gasket kit, new TB adapter plate, fasteners, and Series III LIM.

The LIM for the Series III looks like it has an extra coolant passage.

Can someone tell me what the link is to someone who has done this upgrade? Looks fairly simple, but maybe I am missing something?

I currently have a 3.0 Pulley, and plan to stick with a 3.0 pulley on the Gen V blower too. I suppose this will mean a new tune may be needed due to changing incoming boost?
