Missing Air Dam Pieces (Page 1/1)
windex42 SEP 26, 01:21 AM
Hi,
I have an '87 GT, I've been concerned about engine temperatures, cooling, and air flow.
I was looking under my car, and it looks like I'm missing some things.
1. I appear to be missing an Air Deflector.
I see that there's one available on the Fiero Store.
It looks like I'll need more than just that though, but I'm not sure the extent of it.
2. It looks like there are some rusted metal brackets on both bumpers. I believe people refer to these as Air Deflector Retainers.
Since I probably need these, does anyone have some I could buy?
3. If I do get the Air Deflector as mentioned in number 1, I think I'm missing one or more reinforcements that the air dam would screw into.
Can anyone help with a parts list of what I'm missing
Can anyone help provide me with replacement parts?

I had been looking at a few resources so far.
fierostore.com for the Air Deflector

https://www.tascaparts.com/...s/body--front-bumper
for a parts diagram

A youtube video paused at 2:40 which shows me that I'm missing more than I realize

Here's a photo of under my car:

Thanks in advance,
I hope you all have a great week

Thanks PhatMax,
I'll refer to this to come up with a parts list.
Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to buy from any website since the parts are discontinued.
I'll post a request in the WTB section, but I'm trying to figure out what all I need first
The photo below comes from the youtube video I referenced in my first message. I'm comparing my car to this car since this one seems to have all the parts I'm looking for.
.

The easy one will be the deflector from FieroStore.com (highlighted in purple) I won't need help with this
I'm guessing at the rest, If anyone can confirm I've got the right parts, let me know.
52 on the diagram, part 10030673 (highlighted in blue) I'm not confident I picked the right part
12 on the diagram, part 10037000 (highlighted in red) I'm not confident I picked the right part
11,15 on the diagram, parts 10030671/72 (highlighted in green) I think I got the correct parts here.

Yes these are the parts you need. Basically you have the airdam that is flexible (purple), blue and green are support brackets that keep the airdam in place. These brackets will rust so they may be hard to find in a good shape (and may be why they were removed from your Fiero).
If you are handy you could make some of these brackets yourself. When I restored mine I could save and repaint the corner pieces (green) but the midsection (blue) was rusted through and unusuable. I was able to make a simple replacement in aluminium and it worked.

PhatMax, Fie Ro,
Thank you both for the great information.

I hope I don't have to make those myself, but if I do, at least I have some visual reference to know what goes where.

I feel like I got lucky here.
I searched on ebay and found the entire set of pieces that I need. Not the best condition, but considering all of my pieces are gone, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
