Ticking noise near AC compressor (88 Formula) (Page 1/1)

So, I did some work on my engine the other day. Simple stuff, changing gaskets and cleaning stuff up, all in the air passages, plenum, intake manifold, and inspecting all the vacuum lines. It drives fine, but I recently started hearing a noise that only happens when my AC is on. It occurs roughly every 5 seconds for about a half second at a time. And just keeps happening over and over. It’s a series of fast clicks, maybe 30 in that short amount of time. I went to that side of my engine and put my hands on stuff to see if I could identify the source, and couldn’t for the life of me, but I was trying to stay away from the moving belts. Any thoughts what this may be and if it’s a problem?

Check big + battery cable and wires to AC Clutch.
Both can short out intermittently and be hard to see.

If + cable is near pulleys or exhaust more so. Reroute this to keep far away from them and shape edges.

Clutch wires and more can short or open as engine moves/vibrate and make clutch noise.
Refer as edge of over or under charge can cause clutch noise too.

Sounds to me like your A/C is (more than likely) undercharged, although other things could cause the compressor to cycle in and out.
