Hi Guys my 5 speed Getrag has not been cooperative with me I have had shifting problems where my 1st gear will be hard to engage and 2nd gear can also lock up sometimes unless I cut the engine off and restart the car. With the car off I can go thru all the gears smooth. I disconnected the shift cable and moved the shift cable arm down and it goes thur some clicks not readily moving up and down. The car was tested during the day 75 degree weather.
I have just changed the oil synchromesh pennzoil Rebuilt shift bushings Rodneys 5 speed rebuild kit Select cable rebuild kit rodney adjusted shift cable from 3rd gear changed the slave cylinder a few years ago does anyone have any ideas whats going on?[This message has been edited by Atlanta1 (edited 10-02-2022).]

"heated"?
A couple of the usual questions...
Has the clutch pedal banjo been installed with the loop facing up? How far above the brake pedal does the clutch pedal sit? How far does the slave push rod move?

That's less than it should be. Not necessarily a deal killer, but your clutch pedal is probably bent at least a little.

There better be, as that's what connects the clutch pedal to the master cylinder.[This message has been edited by Patrick (edited 10-02-2022).]

I believe what Patrick is asking about ("Banjo Up") is not a musical instrument but the Master Cylinder connecting rod to the clutch pedal.

Did you check oil level at the master cilinder reservoir? If that is low you may have a leak / air in the system causing the clutch to not fully disengage.

Disconnect the cables at the transmission and try shifting through the gears by hand. It should shift fairly freely. ------------------ formerly known as sanderson 1984 Quad 4 1886 SE 2.8L 1988 4.9L Cadillac 1988 3800 Supercharged

Good suggestion I disconnected the cables and moved the shifter arm up and down and going down ward it was going thru a couple of clicks and being stiff. I don't think it should be doing that.I guess I may have The Reverse lever 153 problem found in Getrags to cause shifting problems in 1st 2nd and reverse because of maybe a bend/twist lever inside the transmission. I have enough clutch fluid.
