Has anyone had success painting grey hard plastic interior pieces to 88 brown color? I need a passenger side pillar piece that sits beside the seat and hides the seat belt mechanism. Can't seem to find an 88 Beechwood color one , so I was thinking of grabbing the more common grey or previous year brown one and painting it.

I colour matched a small enamel spray can at a hobby store many years ago to spray a seat hinge/seat belt guide; worked great.

Thanks Dave. I will try to find a beechwood B pillar. If I can't, then I will likely do what you did and paint one.

Rustoleum do paints with primers for plastics. I can say they do adhere really well to plastics

I had to paint a a-pillar trim.
I found a sheet that had the paint codes for interior colors and had a paint supply store mix up the color. Makes sure you properly clean the plastic and use a plastic primer on it first.
The color matched pretty good, but then my interior isn't faded too much as the car has been mostly covered/inside when not in use.

I believe that Sherwin Williams had a Beechwood paint in a spray can a few years back. I used some to paint the plastic seat belt cover mechanisms. If anyone is interested I can likely dig up the SW paint code number and/or supply a few photos of a finished product.

I have painted all my trim pieces. I lightly sanded them and smoothed out the sharp edges and casting ridges. Didn't use plastic primer everywhere but my normal primer also worked fine. A good cleanup and light (wet)sanding is a good prep.
You could also paint the opposite panel if the new paint looks a little off.

I used some SEM vinyl & Plastic color spray......On my '73 Mustang- also re-painted my Fiero's light-gray dash, but can not find the can of paint I used for that.
Beechwood may be hard to find- Try calling the different companies; SEM, Duplicolor, VHT, Rustoleum....Remember to emphasize >>INTERIOR<< paint for Vinyl.
