Hey guys, I'm stuck I have an 86 gt, replacing timing chain. I have the waterpump off and out of the way, from what I can see I have the timing cover bolts off, even got the oil pan bolts at the cover off. It's not budging. What am I dong wrong???? Only 2 bolts I can see is the 2 that hold the timing marker on, I'm positive those don't have to come off. Am I missing something?? Thanks in advance

The manual says that if the car is equipped with AC the compressor and mounts must be removed after depressurizing the AC system. Has this been done? There must be some common bolts with the timing cover. It also mentions in a picture caption that two bottom and two top bolts aren't visible in the photo. I'm guessing the bottom are the ones through the oil pan. I'm not sure what the top ones are.

You're correct that the timing mark indicator doesn't remove. It uses special fasteners that you probably can't find and removal usually damages the cover to some degree.

When I replaced the water pump on my SE it stuck. A pry bar would simply bend and it would not pop off, no matter what I did.

Weirdly, in a fit of frustration, I found a piece of rebar with a weird point that popped it off with ease.

The point is - it's possible that you've removed all of the bolts, but it's just molecularly bonded to the gasket between the cover and the block, and will require interesting techniques to move it.
