88 rear caliper piston question (Page 1/1)

Hello

There is a caliper rebuild shop near me that claims to have the correct piston for the 88 rears. I am under the impression that this is a part that has been discontinued a long time ago

He sent me a picture and measurements. Can someone please confirm if this is, in fact, the correct piston for 88 rears?

Dimensions are apparently 1.871" in diameter & 1.985" in length.

thanks

Can't find info online about the difference between the 84-87 rear piston vs 88 rear piston.

That part is not the problem - it is the inner piston and seal that fits inside these. I bought outer pistons from Rockauto about a year ago when I had mine done.

The seal for the inner piston can be used from the f-body kit (CENTRIC 14362008). I believe there is a difference in the piston size when comparing to the previous years.

You need the seal circled in red from the f-body kit:

Seems the answers to your questions can be found here:

88 rear caliper piston rebuild- see pictures

Weren't you the OP on that topic (11/17/19)?

Anyway, Ogre posted piston diameters there in reply. Are you looking for other info?
