egr question (Page 1/1)

Morning everyone - Having got a code 33 and found that it was the hose from the fuel rail that had disconnected - I fixed that and the petrol fumes, smoke and rough idle was gone happy days.

Now I have a high tick over at 2000 rpm when I start the car which at one point went higher so my question is - could a sticking egr cause high revs ?? (as a side note I have replaced the egr tube and no codes have been given)

many thanks for any opinions

Cracked egr tube will be a vacuum leak, spray some carb cleaner on the area while its running and cold and see if the rpm changes.

When I purchased my 86 GT, it had an egr delete. I have left it alone. Could this be an option for yours?

Many thanks for your replies - As an update problem solved it was the larger pipe from the TB that had come off presumably when I took the top cover off to repair the map sensor pipe at the fuel rail - I just could'nt see at first with it being black and hidden behind the distributor.
What does surprise me is how easy it just fell out and went back in i I would have thought there would have been an o ring or grommet to seal this larger pipe in the TB.

Anyway thanks again

There is an O-ring inside the throttle body. I believe the pipe has a slight flare ring that should lock it inside.

Thanks fierofool - just to add injury to insult I went to start the car this morning and wouldnt start no codes nothing smell of fuel - changed the coil and the ignition module and back in business fortunately had a spare module in stock.
