Centre Console Pin Identification (Page 1/2)
355Fiero DEC 17, 11:41 PM
Evening all;

Just cleaning up a few last items in my custom centre console and I cannot find this connector anywhere in searching the site.

Wires are dark blue, tan and black
I assume black is ground
tan is most likely interior lights?
Dark blue has 12 v in ign.

Thanks
Don

What year, engine, transmission and body style was the original car?

How was the car accessorized?

Not 100% sure Joe;

When I got it, it had a V6 four speed that I swapped out for a 3.4 DOHC and getrag 5 speed.

I don't know the body accessories part but will have a look at the VIN and decode it to see.

I was wondering if this connector was for an automatic switch plate? Not sure if that comes with all Fieros or not.

As another way to see what it might be, what normally came in the centre console as standard and options?

- Auto/Manal should be a pin set for power/lights on the auto selector
- 4 speed had backup lights on the shifter. I found that already
- Cigarette lighter, found ground and power for that. i have not found the light wire but I have several interior lights wires that I have id'd
- ALDL connector. Have that
- ashtray lights
- power windows, I have those
- power mirrors - thought this might be for that but I remember now I pulled that out wiring harness as I don't have the power window setup on my doors

Not sure what else would be there?

Thanks
Don

That appears to be non stock to a Fiero, as that style plug was only used on the TPS on a four cylinder engine.
Additionally, blue/tan/black colored wires are not a normal GM color combo in a circuit.
Thirdly, that looks like a weatherpak style gasketed plug used in the engine compartment, not the interior.

If the wires were blue/grey/black, I would ID it as a TPS plug, but it would be in the engine compartment and the blue wire would not be carrying 12 volts.

I suspect that someone added the plug for some purpose known only to them.

Maybe someone else will chime in with an idea.

olejoedad about correct for 87-88 L4 TBS...
Plug is TBS sensor w/ blk = gnd, Gry= input and dk blu = 5 volts
Most ECM sensors uses 5 Volts except O2 that generates 0 to 1 volt.

Plug is Metripack weather resistance part and missing the seal around the "pins."
Example Pigtail at https://www.rockauto.com/en...einfo.php?pk=1217527

But Read VIN on the dash to get OE Engine.... 8 char = R for 2.5 or 9 for 2.8 V6 Why? The V6 you replace may not be OE.

Because same ECM has builtin Cruise but should have 4 wire plug about there...
gry = Cruise On, brn or wire fade to tan = "Brake On", Dk Blu = Set Button and Blk = Resume

When use by old 1227748 ECM those wires are "tied low" via resistors to ground and not put 12v on any of them when not connected.
W/ engine swaps do not connect this to anything because likely connected to ECM/PCM wrong.

I don't know any Metripack plug that is Inside of the cabin...

Ogre, the grey wire is 5v.

Yes Plug is TBS sensor w/ blk = gnd, Gry= input 5 volts and dk blu = 5 volts input
When "copied" from FSM i flipped the colors posting...

Thanks very much folks. I will see if it traces back through the harness to some ECU wires or where else. It confused me as to what it could be as I did not remember anything like that in my other Fieros.

I have TPS all hooked up with the 3.4 DOHC swap so no certainly not needed now. Just wanted to clean up some wiring or at least label it so I know for the future....

Thanks

I think tracing out the circuit is your best bet.

Please let us know your findings.
