Muncie 4 speed bracket (Page 1/2)

Does anyone have a picture or possibly a link to what the correct 4 speed shifter cable select bracket looks like? I have a 5 speed and the parts do not appear to be interchangeable since the 4 speed doesn't have a bolt down plate but more like a location to insert a pin. Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks for the quick reply. The weird this is I don't see any kind of bolt holes in the area of where you would attached the bracket. Even the selector shaft looks a little different. The black painted trans is the 4 speed and the dirty one is a 5 speed.

n/m - I'm confused as to what you are doing...

Both transmissions look like a Getrag bellhousing at least - to me.

I was told It was a 4 speed and the part number comes up as Muncie 4 speed. I don't know about the bell housing. The problem is the difference in the cable selector attachment method from the 5 speed to the 4 speed

The cable connectors and cables are different on all three manual transmissions that were available in the Fiero. Even though the dirty transmission doesn't appear to have the steel end plate on the transmission, the shift mechanism does appear to be Getrag in the way the cables attach.

This transmission ID thread may be of help. https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/063783.html

I agree the 5 speed deff appears to be a getreg but as far as the 4 speed I have I can't even find a definitive image of what my cable bracket should look like to try and find it. Closest I've seen may be the 84 4 speed

Hers's a borrowed pic of the 4 speed Muncie cable bracket. They like to break but don't worry. Rodney Dickman has a repair kit online.

Here's one with mounting bracket. It likes to break also.

I know the 84 Muncie differed from the 85-86, the latter had bolt on cable brackets.

Great link. This image is exactly what I have looks like 86 Muncie 4 speed according to the image from the link. The problem now is trying to track down these brackets in the image now that I have an idea what they look like. I have the full bracket assembly set up that came with the 5 speed maybe it would just be easier to stick with that This images is larger than 153600 bytes. Click to view.
