4t60 transmission identification (Page 1/1)

It was not easy but I did find a 4t60 supposedly from a 1992 3.1 Grand Prix. The transmission tag is still intact. I have searched all corners of Google and cannot find any charts related to the tag info as I am trying to verify the final drive. The tag number is 612WWH W3BBB. I do know that the 2 represents the model year and the WWH is what GM calls the Broadcast Code. This code will identify the final drive from what I read. Does anyone have documentation to verify if this Broadcast Code denotes a 3.33 final drive or not?

Thanks in advance.

Tag on the Unit Does Not include "gear ratio(s)."

RPO label on the vehicle has this info.
1 "number" is type of unit. 2nd is Trans Ratio.
TR = Chain Ratio x Final Ratio.

Couldn't find anything either. But this may at least lead you in the right direction.

'99 Dacco catalog says 2WWH = 3880 engine, FL9B converter code, 1895 stall, 3.06 final, 35-35 sprockets. I can't guarantee 100% accuracy, but I don't recall any errors.
I kept the catalog do to this info. Personally, I wouldn't put a Dacco converter in a wheel borrow unless it was to wheel it to the core pile.

Thanks Marc. Is that final drive gear too tall? I was going to have the trans rebuilt so I can have the gear changed.

To tall for what? What engine? How do you intend to use the car?

Doing a 3.4 swap at the same time as the trans install. Definitely not a race car. Just cruising around. It's a very nice 88 GT that will just be driven once and awhile.

It should be fine the way it is. That trans has a 2.92:1 first gear ratio. It will be sporty leaving a light and still give you good fuel economy cruising around.
