86 SE. No *Ker-thunk* (I THINK that's the sound?) when I "push upon the switch-jammie."
Any ideas?

Check fuses and check for power going into and out of the switch. If all thats good the problems in the actuator, mebbe a bad ground on it?

automatic? Check your neutral safety switch, mounted to the top of the transmission.

Can be anything... Bad switches, bad relay, etc. including crap in the trunk trapped in the latch and then solenoid has no ground.
