WinALDL error numbers? (Page 1/1)

Hi,

Just tried using WinALDL on my 1988 Fiero GT and it appears that I'm getting communication errors. There is a box next to the version number and its flashing red with number 1 and 6 in this box. What do these error numbers mean?

Thanks...

No clue on "WinALDL" error numbers... WinALDL Software runs on several types of cables/adapters and your problem seem is the "cable."

ALDL Port in the car is often damage by twits stuffing big crap to read "codes," simple dirt, etc.

Look at or take picture(s) in Macro mode of ALDL to look at "pins."

If a "pin" looks "bad..."
I think the "pins" can be remove same as chime box plug. See my Cave, Defect & Connection notes
If not total wrecked, can clean or carefully bend them back to get good contact w/ the cable.

I was able to use my AutoXray to read data with no issues, it just can't do real-time updates which is why I'm trying to get WinALDL to work. Will look at the connector pins to verify.

I bought my cable from OBD Diagnostics Inc and haven't been able to get TunerPro or WinALDL to work with it.

Are there any recommend USB cables that people have been successful using it with TunerPro or WinALDL?

Thanks

See this website. I believe this is owned by Phonedawgs on here who is a master with electronic components.

His ALDL usb cable should work for you.

Check out this thread - ALDL USB Cable Driver

Turns out I was guilty of not reporting back in that 10 year old thread. However, as I stated in this very recent thread , I did get my OBD Diagnostics cable to work.

You using it wrong.
Even old "cheap" AutoXray GM Only can monitor and capture (maybe 30 Sec).
Data, op data then touch mon(itor) and monitor until I-key is Off.
Mon alone can start capture mode. start then hit enter again when whatever happens. Then view 10-15 sec before and after pressing enter.

ECM only output data stream 1-2 times a sec so WinALDL etc often won't help you if is intermittent or fast event.
See my Cave, Scan Tool Help and rest of section.

Well, I was able get WinALDL to work. The 10k resistor wasn't strapped corrected and I changed the baud rate to 4800. I now get a flashing green next to the version number with a value of 25. Doesn't seem normal because most screenshot example show a 20 in this box, maybe I have 25 because I'm configured for 4800.

TunerPro still doesn't work but to be honest I'm not really sure how to use it.

Thanks all!
