So, the Fiero Store no longer sells a trailer hitch for the Fiero. I found only 1 place that even lists a hitch for a Fiero, but it says it will only fit 84-87 Fiero. I know the cradle is different on an 88 (mine). I would think that where a hitch connects to the frame would be the same. Is that correct?

We want to pull a small trailer for our luggage to the Fiero 40th Anniversary this July.

⚠️ 84-87 Fiero is different enough so some parts may not fit 88.
Mod'ing a hitch kit to fit another car cancel all ratings by the maker and if you wreck cops, Car Insurance, and more can make your life very miserable. If mod'ed or make from scratch find a very good welding or machine shop that works with towing issues.

⚠️ Warning: Even a Very Small trailer will often make your car Overloaded. Fiero is easy to Overload without Towing anything and part of many claiming Fiero Brake "Sucked."
GM and many other makers Never Recommend towing anything behind their cars and other types of vehicles.
Yes Owner Book often give a Max of 100lb Tongue weight and 1000lb Draw weight but also say don't do it.

Draw weight is Total = Trailer Weight + cargo. Most small trailers like HF sells weights 150lb 250lb and more without floor and whatever attached/mounted on it.
If have anything iffy w/ Fiero Brakes that most have w/o noticing for daily driving... Towing and Stopping with 500+lb can have huge problems and way longer distance to stop just on level ground.

Then add Tongue weight is Worse then same weight as crap in the trunk because weight is farther behind the Rear Axle often causing Suspension Brake and HL problems. Many complain Fiero is too light in the Front to start w/ then will be lighter still w/ 100lb or more on the Tongue. That often affects turning, braking, and even "road feel" because rear struts are @ near or totally compressed and leverage can try to lift the front. Often HL Aiming is off too and low beam blinds others and "bulbs" perform poorly because of bad aiming.

The hitch on my 88 attached to the lower frame rails, not the cradle. The rear lower fascia required some minor trimming.

The lower frame rails are the same on all model years of the Fiero, and all of the Fiero specific hitches I have seen

Thanks, Ogre. The trailer we would use is the type that motorcycles pull, fiberglass shell, and don't weigh very much. The hitch on my previous 88 had only a 1.25" receiver, which limits weight capacity.

Good to hear that! My uncle recently acquired this '88 Fiero and he may need a new trailer hitch. Got to finish the installation of the rotors and fuel wheels on the truck this week before we can take her in and see.
