Hello, what have you used to repair or replace the under dash sub woofer? Did you find it worth the effort? Thanks in advance Shawn

Is the speaker cone or the voice-coil damaged or just the foam around the outside of the cone? If the cone and voice-coil are OK, you can try replacing the damaged foam diaphragm. (https://www.simplyspeakers.com/) I replaced the diaphragms on my Marantz Imperial 7G Base-reflex speakers when they began to deteriorate. They are sounding as good as they did when I bought them in 1975.
On the other hand, you can buy the replacement from Rodney. I did that for the performance sound system in the '86 SE that I once owned. Simple job and worked great.
IMO the sound system in a Fiero ain't great barely be considered adequate. Change out the stock 4x10 speakers with something with a separate mid-range and/or tweeter and doing the same for the 4x6 speakers in the sail panels along with a decent amp is what's needed.
At the end of the day, sound is strictly a personal thing and like Rick Nelson sang, "you can't please everyone so you have to please yourself."

So, that option never originally came with the 1984 model year, so it's possible that all they did was install the subwoofer box, and possibly the dome light feature. Do you have the "Performance Sound" slider button on your map lights?
You can still use the subwoofer box, but the factory install would have come with a small amplifier installed on the inside of the passenger side panel. So, if you're sitting in the passenger seat, right where your left leg rubs up against... if you remove the shifter bracket / cap (that holds the ash-trays and stuff), between the carpet and the center tunnel there should be an amplifier sitting between there, along with the harness.
