3800 SC cam and timing chain questions. (Page 1/1)

I am ready to order the cam for my 3800 SC swap, and keep flipping between the ZZP VS and XP cam.
I will be installing new springs and retainers, though the spring rate will be affected by cam choice.

I want the extra the XP cam offers, however I do not want to do the balance shaft delete required with the double roller timing chain.
Having ridden in a GP a few times with the shaft delete, I did not like the low speed vibrations.
I know I am doing the swap in search of as much power as I can get, however the reality is I spend at least 75% of my time driving 35 mph or less.
I therefore do not care for all the low speed vibration.

On top of the cam, I will be doing 80lb injectors, E85, a free flowing exhaust etc.
This is all on a series 3 and a gen 5 blower.

They say you get reduced chain life with the single roller and the XP cam / spring combo. So are we talking 1000 miles, 25000 miles or what??

I guess the question boils down to the ability to run the XP cam on a good quality single roller chain, or should I just stick with the VS cam?

Thanks

I have been very happy with the VS cam plus some other mods and a conservative tune. My Series III engine dynoed right around 300 HP and FT Lbs of torque at the wheels and is quite drive able at lower speeds.
