Clearly, Rodney’s late clutch master/slave cylinders are #1, however both are ‘out of stock’ plus he is searching for new manufacturers to make these again.
I can’t wait as I need a set now; thus my options are ‘The Fiero Store’ or the ‘Standard’ Auto Store.
I’m inquiring if YOU have any experience on these choices or possibly other alternatives…..
Thanks, VN

I'll save you a whole lot of money.
The clutch master cylinder isn't nearly as prone to issues as the slave. Just buy an regular run of the mill master. This is the one I bought a year and a half ago for my Formula. Works just fine.
Since Rodney no longer has the complete slave available any longer, follow his advice and buy his double-seal piston. If your current slave cylinder isn't pitted and/or worn, use the replacement piston in it. If the cylinder is bad, buy a regular run of the mill slave and use Rodney's double-seal piston in it.

Thanks for the reply and yes, I saw Rodney’s advice on the slave and the double-seal piston.
I believe that ‘The Fiero Store’ prices on these items are higher because markup and profit, not higher quality; however, I wanted to hear from the pros like you…..
Thanks-you for your input, VN

Using an example:
Dorman Clutch Slave Cylinder @ $70 Centric Clutch Slave Cylinder @ $18
Both items show the IDENTICAL picture, but obviously this is a $50 difference.
If both items have the same quality (as made from the same manufacturer), the only ‘difference’ is markup and profit.
What I’m asking if any members have knowledge about these 'higher' priced items which has higher quality.

Price difference is probably made in USA or China. Lots of times the parts store won't have exact picture so they will sub one. I usually buy the mid priced part and give preference to the brand I recognize. sleek fiero.

Okay - I'll go to my local auto store today (which is Winchester Auto) and see if they have aluminum cylinders and from what country....
And yes, Rodney's dual seal piston has been ordered.... Thanks, VN

That's the critical part of the slave. IMO, there's probably little difference with the actual cylinders themselves... no matter where they're made.

To end my thread:
Schaeffler LuK LMC501 Clutch Master Cylinder @ $33 Dorman CS37794 Clutch Slave Cylinder @ $55
Both are steel and the best price I found is on Amazon.
Thanks for the help, VN

I would guess your best bet if your fiero isn't a big priority or don't want to spend lots of money on the car, buy the cheaper slave and buy Rodneys double piston seal plunger and upgrade it to his parts. Once Rodney gets a manufacture one day to make them again, upgrade to his part entirely. I have seen from what Rodney wrote on his web-page that if nobody buys his business soon, he mentions that all the inventory will be stored. I understand his take on that, and as a loyal customer of his, I understand why his going to do this. If I need anything in the next year, I will be buying from him to stock up on anything that might want or need for a fiero project. I just can't afford to wait until a buyer of his business will bite. That could be 2-3 years, or longer.
He's got a beautiful line of parts, especially for 88 owners as myself, and without him or his business, my two 88GTs probably would of not been completed with quality parts or pretty much fabbed parts. Nobody in the world has as much 88 specific items than his business line.
I know I got off topic, but was just making a point about Rodneys option for parts related to the slave. Actually, because I will be getting some slave double piston plungers on my next order, and other parts.
Let us know where your slave is made with the brand so the members will know in advance what to expect if they buy one.
