Better seat belts (Specifically Dodge Neon) (Page 1/1)

I read about someone replacing the Fiero seatbelts with Dodge Neon seatbelts. In the instructions, it was stated that A) You needed to swap the belts from side to side in the retractor and B) It stated "Neon SRT 4"...Now, I am not sure about that last statement- it seems that all the belts would be the same for Neons- maybe it was just the color...?

Has anyone done this swap? Any tips or info?

(One of the few things I never liked about the Fiero was the "Twin-retractor seatbelt system" In this small car you would think you would be trying to cut weight any-and-everywhere, so why would you have a TWO retractor system when all other cars have a single- not to mention that I hate not being able to cinch up the lap belt by pulling the should strap)

Many GM models and other brand have 2 belt retractors.
Fiero just has both together.

Anyone replacing Seat belts from other cars often have seat belts that can and will fail in a wreck.
Very few companies have right tools to make seat belts. Almost no-one in the public has sowing machine and right needle to handle the belt and thread right.

Before trying to replace them...
Try cleaning w/ mild cleaners like Simple Green, Dawn or diluted laundry "soap" then rise a lot preferred w/ distilled or deionize water.

Cleaning helps many because most crap like most dyes can get into the nylon.
