Head unit stopped working after I replaced the alternator. It displays a time (7:34) but not the actual time and never updates. none of the buttons or dials do anything, any ideas of what could be wrong?

Yes, Check All of fuses. OE "Radio" is connected to 2 fuses...

Exactly Why did you replace the alt?
Did ECM flash check engine when alt died?

Sometimes "dead" alt puts out Higher Volts and ECM might see and set code(s) before total dead and do nothing.

Many things hate 16 or more Volts and can die too.

Plus Stock "Radios" and more can die just from age. Dead alt can just put 30+ year old electronic over the dead line.
Example: 20+ year old capacitors can die from heat, over volts even a tiny amount, electrolytic dry out, etc.
Cabin Heat when Park can see 150 to 200°F very easy and doesn't have to be Hot outside. http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/141784.html Fiero Engine bay vs Heat. near bottom.
