If you get the polarity wrong the solenoid will work backwards. The Fiero has a four wire plug:
"A" is a pink wire coming from the inj2 fuse. This goes to one of the solenoid wires. "B" is a gray/red wire and comes from the other wire on the solenoid and goes to the ECM "C'" is a dark green wire and goes to one side of the EGR vacuum diagnostic switch "D" is a black/white wires and goes to the side of the EGR vacuum diagnostic switch
The polarity on "C" and "D" does not matter. The polarity on "A" and "B" matters. Google the "right hand rule" for solenoid operation. If the solenoid came with a connector, I would match up the letters to wire color.------------------ formerly known as sanderson 1984 Quad 4 1886 SE 2.8L 1988 4.9L Cadillac 1988 3800 Supercharged

Does it have a plug on the wires? If so does the plug have the wires labeled?
If you check with an ohm meter there will be continuity through "A" and "B" although there will be some resistance. "C" and : are normally open. They close when EGR valve sees >2" Hg vacuum. ------------------ formerly known as sanderson 1984 Quad 4 1886 SE 2.8L 1988 4.9L Cadillac 1988 3800 Supercharged

i thought with this mod you had to move to the 7730 ecu.

All of what I said has assumed that the EGR solenoid from a 2.8L S10 is functionally the same as the 2.8l Fiero just with a different plug. That could be a bad assumption------------------ formerly known as sanderson 1984 Quad 4 1886 SE 2.8L 1988 4.9L Cadillac 1988 3800 Supercharged

I checked Rockauto for 87 or 88 EGR S-10 Pick-Up p or Blazer EGR solenoid. They do no have one for an 87. They do have one for an 88. There are no white wires and as a matter of fact there are no wires at all. It looks like the Fiero connector would plug into this unit. It is unclear what EGR solenoid you have. ------------------ formerly known as sanderson 1984 Quad 4 1886 SE 2.8L 1988 4.9L Cadillac 1988 3800 Supercharged
