Rodney's SS Vac Lines (Page 1/1)

HELP! How did you guys get the EGR lines to reach the solenoid? Mine are an inch + too far away from the connections.

Is it possible the metal bracket that holds the solenoid is bent down and thus making it too far of a reach for the vacuum lines? Maybe it could be bent back up more upright.

For what its worth, I had the same issue and after multipe attempts to make the Rodney EGR line work I purchased a length of brake line and made my own routing it accross the front of the engine. The Rodney line was not the issue. The issue was the replacement EGR that was just different enough that it wouldn't line up.

Thanks guys, I'll check the bracket on the solenoid. Everything on my engine is stock and mounted in the factory location. Obviously the new SS are gonna be stiff v. the original flexible plastic, but I didnt expect this much trouble getting them to line up. Outside of that, the quality is top notch, typical RD.

Can anyone please share photos of their's installed?

See Rodney’s Notes on the set……"So my upgrade is an extra short pierce of the small diameter stainless steel vacuum line and a piece of rubber tube. Cut the rubber tube piece to the length you need…..”

I still have the original plastic vacuum lines under the intake manifold.

The only line had broke is the solenoid line at the EGR valve. The line was very brittle from the heat from the exhaust.

I used I.D. hose on the plastic vacuum line, re-route the new hose across the front of the trunk, to the cruise control harness and used the original ‘boot’ on the EGR nipple.

Keep in mind that the 88 and pre-88 EGR valves are located differently, too. My SS line set had the mentioned short extension and the rubber hose, but my car is an 87 and at the time it had the OEM-style valve. The line wouldn't attach with just the nipple connector because it was angled wrong at the valve. I assume a compromise between 88 and pre-88 positions. I had to use a tiny tubing bender to bend it without kinking the line. That system has now been eliminated after SpadesCustoms did my 7730 upgrade but the other SS vacuum lines remain in place.

CSS hit the nail. The solenoid bracket wasn’t bent, but it was rotated forward (towards the glass). Loosened the bolt and brought it back…boom. Thanks again you guys.
