question on Rondney S10 brake booster (Page 1/1)

Bought Rodneys S10 booster rod correct length.
Bought recommended booster on Rodneys site.

Between the master cylinder and booster do you use the S10 pushrod or the fiero rod. see pic

Anyone try one versus the other?

Once master failed decided to go all in. FYI
New bendix master cylinder defective out of box
Rebuildt calipers brake stop oreily brand 1 defefective front caliper out of the box
The oreily brake stop rear calipers cam new even said rebuilt but the pads clips are different and a total PIA plus the ebrake hardware is totally different than stock and way more of a pain over the OEMs. If had more time and patience I would have rebuilt my own OEMs that were original to the car.

I used the S10 booster sold by Summit Racing Equipment with the threaded actuator rod. Attached the Rodney extension to the rod on the brake booster and that was it. bolted everything back. BIG improvement in braking action.

but did you remove the rod inside the summit racing booster between the booster and the master cylinder and replacr it with the one from the fiero?

or did you leave that sidebof the booster as is?

Yes. I don't see how the booster would work without that rod. There would be no connnection with the Master Cylinder without it.

when you pull the oem booster off there is the oem rod between the booster and the master cylinder.

The aftermarket booster comes with a rod between the master cylinder and the booster. my pic stinks because I did not remove the clear plastic retainer for the picture.

Still the same question. use the oem or aftermarket rod between the booster and the master cylinder????

Do not mix and match the booster to master rods. Use the S10 one with the S10 booster.

ok

I am going to pick up where the original poster left off

I ordered the s10 brake booster from Summit Racing AND Rodney's kit and I order BOTH rods that extend the rod that goes from the Back of the booster through the firewall and to the brake pedal. Double checked the instructions and measured twice that the CORRECT extension was used. Okay that part settled.

NOW the question is on the other side there is a rod or pin that goes from the front of the booster to the back of the master cylinder. The s10 booster came with a rod and of course my old OEM booster had a rod.

WHEN installing the s10 booster do I use the OEM rod or pin that goes from the front of the booster to the master cylinder or the rod or pin that came with the new S10 booster from Summit Racing ?
