Correct Getrag Transmission Cable Bracket? (Page 1/2)

So there I was, taking the son to get a haircut and naturally using the Fiero for the cruise. All of a sudden I'm missing shifts and end up only in third gear. Pull off to a parking lot and inspect to find the transmission select cable had popped out of the bracket mount because the top piece left the vehicle at some point. Quick field repair, I grabbed some wire in the trunk and laced it up to get us home.

Anyways, as I'm looking around to find a replacement, it looks as if I might have a FWD Getrag in there, based on the mount? Just want to check if I'm seeing things right before I plop down some cash.

Here's what mine looks like

Here's Rodney Dickman's FWD bracket

And here's the Fiero Store's bracket

Looks like all you really need is that one missing piece.

I think you're right, but I suspect Rodney only sells the entire bracket. Guess I learned something about my car's history today I didn't know!

If it were me, I'd ask him. Heck, why not? If he was agreeable, also ask what the distance is between the two bolt holes (to make sure it would fit your existing bracket).

Your name says it all...cmon, weren't you impressed with the jerry rigged solution!?

I might end up fabbing it myself, we'll see.

Not everyone's MacGyver ... but yeah, it's not a complex piece.

Actually I was impressed with the "On The Fly" fix.

Rodney identified the part as belong to his ultimate shift kit - so not a FWD Getrag, but instead shorter throw.
