I need some help. I am converting a manual to an automatic for my dad. So I have to replace the entire interior wiring harness? Or is there an easier way?

Not just cabin wiring changes. Need a lot of other changes... Some Examples: Replace Radiator w/ new rad w/ AT "Cooler" fittings. You can't just use aftermarket coolers because AT Oil often won't reach operating temp and cause trans problems. Worse in cool to freezing weather. Replace ECM "Chip" to work w/ TCC locking. Replace Engine Bay wiring for the TCC locking and Neutral Switch. Replace Steering Column for AT and install cable for Shifter Interlock.------------------ Dr. Ian Malcolm: Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should. The biggest change will be the P/N safety switch. The easiest way to do it is to splice the clutch switch wiring, and then use an automatic engine harness. It should have all the stuff needed for the P/N switch. You'll need to move the large purple wire in the C500 connector. (I forget the exact pin location.) I would suggest moving the one in the "car half" of the connector, to meet the large yellow wire in the engine harness. That way, if anyone ever replaces the automatic engine harness, the starter wire will still match up. There are some differences in the trunk popper wiring, but I never changed any of that when I converted from auto to manual. YMMV. You can keep the manual column, but you'll lose the column lock/gearshift interlock. Even if you swap to an automatic column, the interlock cable will still need to be added - or not.[This message has been edited by Raydar (edited 05-01-2023).]
