Trunk lid latch wont latch flush (Page 1/1)

Hey fellas when I close my trunk it doesnt sit flush. It used to when I bought the car. It latches but stays up a bit, passenger side is lower than the other. I tried adjusting the latch up and the d-ring down to the max but its still sitting up a bit. I can push the decklid down more w my hand to sit flush. The latch is latched, but its loose afterwards. I can push it down another 1/4" but theres nothing to hold it there. Do I have a bad latch?

When you lifted the car did you use the latch/dring?

Nvm I answered my question. You did

You don't do that because it bends the d ring. Hammer it back.

LOL, some people shoot themselves in the foot. God gave me the unique ability to annihilate everything from the kneecaps down.

A) I did not know that that would bend the trunk-latch loop.....And B) When I did my engine/trany swap back in 99 I used a cargo strap around the whole trunk structure.

Maybe I should also state; After having done my swap, I read numerous engine swap threads where they used the trunk-latch loop to lift the car....We need to make it clear "Never lift via the trunk-latch loop"

I and many others have... Because lifting that way can easily kill someone.
Even Cave cover this for decades too.
