Iam having troubles. Last year I had the converter cut out of exhaust. So I was driving and car stopped. it was the icm and the battery was new last year but now it was swelled and dead had to replace it as well with a new coil as well . Got going again engine light came on and it did it again. Icm and battery was dead smell rotten eggs. So I don’t kbuw it the distributor stem perhaps. I did check for over charging with volt meter with idling and put lights and a/c on. I’m not to sure now.

It sounds like your alternator is acting up. If the regulator in the alternator fails you either get no or low voltage or you get a runaway situation and very high voltage which can burn out components such as ,coil, ICM, bulbs and even ecu. Your swollen battery and sulfur smell tells me you had a runaway.

take the alternator out and test @ autozone etc.
SI alts "die" that seem to work and kill the battery.
Have alt problems can kill other things too or Ignition module is separate problem.
