Could someone pls help,I urgently need to find the location of the engine number for my 2.8 V6 fiero. Ive read that it is on the rear side of the block that faces in towards the bulkhead/firewall,is this correct? I have had a real good look but have not found it yet and I wonder if it is only visible from under the car when it is elevated. The car is going in for registration shortly and the inspector will want to see the number to match against purchase documents so I need a solution asap. Hope someone can help describe/send a pic, etc, thanks.

You're right, that's the location. And yes, it's easier to see if the car is raised. When I registered mine I took pictures of the number and showed those to the inspector. He accepted the pictures. [This message has been edited by Mike in Sydney (edited 05-28-2023).]

Be careful. I strongly suggest you find a garage and put it on a lift. Recently, one Forum member was killed when his FIero fell on him while working on it.
If you use ramps, pull the ebake / parking brake and chock the front wheels. The ebrake isn't the best designed that I've seen.
If you use jack stands, make sure you place the stands in the places where the car can be lifted. See this thread for locations: https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/136428.html
