Lazy power lock fix (Page 1/2)
donuteater306 MAY 29, 11:38 PM
This may have been discovered long time ago, but I couldn’t find it in the search. Tired of my power locks not fully locking or unlocking (even after removing all components and degreasing, then re-greasing). I went to the wrecking yard and pulled two rubber grommets “circled in the photo” off of a GM power lock solenoid, and stuck em into the empty space shown in the 2nd photo. PL’s work perfectly now. Took longer to remove the door panel than it did to fit the rubber pieces.

There is also an Ebay seller selling a similar product as well. Thats a nice solution you found as well.

How does that affect what happens to the solenoid when you use the manual lock/unlock slider?

When you slide the lever for the lock, the solenoid moves with it.

*points water pistols at everyone*

Sorry to hijack this thread, but has anyone every heard a *thunk* from the dash when pressing the lock/unlock buttons? I'll try to take a video of it when I'm not so scared.

That's a cool fix, btw... xoxo

I have exhausted my eBay "search-fu". Might you have a link? I need these.

There is a relay on the passenger side under the dash. Its an all metal piece. Maybe that's making the noise?

Probably...should it be?

Maan, I miss when I was 'somewhat flexible'.

Mine doesn't make noise. Thats not saying it shouldn't be, but the relay could be getting old. Working under the dash is painful to say the least. lol
