hey Everyone. hope your all doing well with the great driving weather. Went for a drive today and the car stalled. Right before it shut off, some smoke came from under the dash. Felt like no fuel coming. Had it towed home and found the fuel pump fuse was melted down to nothing. This car has a 350 v8 and was running a 4 cylinder pump with a regulator set at 4psi with a return line. Worked great for over 10 years and about 20k on the fuel system.. You would think the 10amp fuse would just blow and that would be it. Normally I would just change out the pump, but would it have been possible for the relay to fail and cause all this? I can repair the fuse box with a external fuse easy enough, but what else would you recommend?
Thanks to everyone and have a great day.
James

Off Brand Fuses can fry because is often counterfeit. But Real Fuses from Littlefuse etc in bad plugs can fry too.
So likely you have to fix the fuse box or can fry again. Examples: The sockets can "rot" from rust etc. If heated can screw up the hardness so metal is weak and won't hold even if crushed or bend.
Is likely dead F-pump or wire(s) to it is bad drawing too many amps but not enough to instant blow like a short circuit.

Thank you for the reply. I have to cut the wires from the box and add a inline fuse holder to fix that area . I'm thinking the pump is most likely the problem and will change that out as well. Thanks again and have a great da
