deleting sun visors. (Page 1/2)

Have to redo my headliner. Figured I would just delete the sun visors. Are the screws that hold the visors necessary for any other purpose like anchoring the headliner?

You don't find the sun visors useful? Damn, there are times while driving towards the setting sun that I'd have to park for awhile if it wasn't for the visors!

I am a vampire. Sun visors are a very sensitive issue with us. We resent the fact that automakers have refused to make them optional. It is discrimination to force us pay for something we never use.

To me, my GT sun visors has been awful and 'cheap' so I removed one as it won't stay up!
My solution:

My interior will be the 'last chapter' including the headliner when I can fully open the doors as my Fiero is still up on the lift for a complete brake restoration....

All the more reason I'd think you'd want to protect yourself from sunlight!

I think he means he only "comes out at night"....

Long ago, I noticed that the Ford Tauri had a dual sun visor setup on the driver's side...One that both flipped down and also swung to the side, and one that only flipped down when the other was positioned on the side....I made a custom mount and installed the flip-down one above the regular- worked good but did not look perfect so I removed it approx' ten years ago.

cvxjet is exactly right; my 1998 Ford Taurus has 'dual' sun visors which flip down at the windshield (as 'normal')
OR
The visors can be flip down and then swinged to the side windows, which is very convenient!

On the other hand, GT sun visors only flip down at the windshield and IMO are 'worthless'.

If I remember, the headliner sits under the plastic trim so the headliner should stay up without those screws. You may want to remove the sunvisors and do a test just to make sure there is no headliner sag when you remove them.

Here, we need sun visors to pass the provincial automotive safety inspection.
