Looking at a buying a supercharged conversion N/A 3800 equipped Fiero. No history of the swap available. Bogs and stumbles if you get into boost. If you keep your foot out of it, it seems to drive okay. My question is what do you have to do to account for the higher compression of the N/A engine when doing this swap? Is it possible the timing is being yanked back by the knock sensors? Or, where is the first place to look?

Start with checking Misfire Codes. Could be a simple as a bad plug wire.

I would like to add that the 3800 NA was not designed for boost. You could put some boost into it by tuning and keeping it within reason but caution is suggested. As for the cause of the stumbling and bog; that is obviously not normal and I'll agree with Jelly that a scan is in order. ------------------ " THE BLACK PARALYZER" -87GT 3800SC Series III engine, custom ZZP /Frozen Boost Intercooler setup, 3.4" Pulley, Northstar TB, LS1 MAF, 3" Spintech/Hedman Exhaust, P-log Manifold, Autolite 104's, MSD wires, Custom CAI, 4T65eHD w. custom axles, Champion Radiator, S10 Brake Booster, HP Tuners VCM Suite. I did an L36 to ported Gen 3 m90 last month on my buddies Grand Prix.
Not knowing how 'properly' your install was done, it could be many things causing this. I'd probably check what size the SC pulley is and see what injectors are installed. The stock L36 injectors can't handle anything smaller than a 4.2" pulley, ontop of possible KR issues and the higher compression you should probably not take it into boost again until you know what is installed and what your KR is.
I'd suggest an intercooler/injectors KR gauge and a proper tune even if your current issue isn't anything but a bad coil or random sensor.[This message has been edited by TakeTwo (edited 07-06-2023).]
