Are "plastic" cars quieter than metal ones? (Page 1/1)

First thing I am addressing with my car is the interior. Taking out the carpet and doing a complete makeover. With small cheap sports cars I would usually install a layer of "sound deadener" to keep it more quiet. But one of the main purposes of sound deadener is to quiet the "twangy" sound of metal vibrating. So will it make any difference in a Fiero.

I know anything loose will still rattle, but are Fiberglass/plastic cars like the Fiero inherently quieter than metal cars?

No.

Because "Mid engine" w/ engine right next to you, will hear and feel noise from that.
Worse if have suspension, engine mount or exhaust issues.

You know the floor and back firewall are steel, right?

Or one could say "If it's not aerodynamic it's steel."

A poly dogbone is "great" for transferring engine vibration to the rest of the vehicle!

Firewall obviously, Not sure about the floor.

I have been under the car to change the oil and gas filter, Checked out the frame and suspension (made a thread earlier about my banged up cradle). Did not really pay attention to the floor.

Then maybe I will get some sound deadener. It helps with heat also.

Check out Siless hybrid. It is a 3 ply composite that covers heat, noise and vibration. It's a decent price, easy to install and has lots of good reviews. I'll be doing the entire interior with it. It's 200 mil thick

Just remember most are Interior Use Only.
Even many that can block heater.

If used in Engine bay and related must be "Fire Proof" and not hold water/oil that gets on it.
