smaller rear wing (Page 1/3)

Never planned on going wingless. Had to remove my wing to fix the wing stands (stanchions?). The look is kind of growing on me.

Still don't think I want to go wingless, but I am certainly considering a smaller wing. Anyone have any suggestions of a wing from another car that would be about the right width, but smaller overall?

Wings are are so 80's... except maybe on modern ricers. I much prefer spoilers of some sort. Much less ostentatious.

Here's a thread where we discussed options - Rear deck lid wing on Coupe It's unfortunate that the forum is still missing thousands of uploaded images, but the following shot of my '84 is the one I had posted in that thread.

Same decklid/spoiler, painted and transplanted onto my Formula...

If you want smaller, you could go with a 3rd gen Firebird wing. They have a significantly smaller chord (8" vs. 12" for Fiero), a bit wider tip to tip at a bit over 60" to the Fiero's about 59" (I suppose you could section it if you wanted to). But they have integral stands that won't land anywhere near the FIero's stock holes. So you could make it look 'right' but would have some work to do so.

So it looks like the spoiler from the '87-'94 Dodge Shadow fits well as the '91-'94 Lumina.

But I am looking for something even smaller from a cobalt, cruz, aveo or something like that. As long as it does not have a brake light.

I am finding the part number and sizes for some of these spoilers, but I still need to go see one in person. Many of these newer cars have some arch to the rear deck where the Fiero is pretty flat. Also many of these spoilers are rounded at the rear corners to match their car while the Fiero is pretty square.

It is more complicated than I thought it would be.

One other factor to consider is where the holes need to be drilled to accommodate the mounting studs of a chosen spoiler. I did not want mounting studs poking into my Fiero's trunk. I didn't wish to experience water potentially leaking into the trunk. The '92 Chevy Lumina Euro spoiler worked out just fine in that regard.

BTW I have seen some Fiero's with ducktail spoilers, but that is not what I am looking for either.

It is hard to ask for advice on something like this that is more a matter of taste. When I say that I don't care for a certain look I am not saying my sense of style is superior. It is just my individual taste.

Different strokes for different folks. I've been on this forum for 24 years. My skin's as thick as rhinoceros hide.

When I got my gt, the wing had been ripped off(literally). It still lokked good but I really like the oem wing, its what I saw as a kid. Ill be making new wingstands soon, should have somethin in a month or two.

It probably won't be possible, but I'd like to keep my OEM wing for whenever I go to a gathering of Fieros.

I think the smaller wing would look great out by its self, but in a crowd of other Fieros it might appear "inadequate" if you know what I mean. I don't want to answer endless questions about driving through a cold rain on the way there.
