Custom Axle needed- do you know anyone that can help? (Page 1/2)

Hello

After my F23 swap, my driver's side axle seems to be a bit too short and pulls out of the transmission too easily. I am not sure why, since engine mounting has not changed and the WCF brackets seem to fit perfectly well. Do you know of anyone who can manufacture a slightly longer axle, maybe 18mm longer than stock? Need one ASAP

thanks

You might check with CV Source down here near me. They built a number of custom axels for some local engine swappers.

I sought out a CV axle shop/rebuilder and specified the compressed length that I wanted. I provided the hard to find Fiero outer CV ends and they assembled axles that fit perfectly on both my swaps. Try finding an axle shop up your way and that might save you a few bucks. I've heard good things about that shop in GA but US-Canada shipping prices are now "thru the roof"

Since the passenger side axles are longer, I ended up using the one I had (manual axle passenger side) and I found another passenger side axle at a salvage yard.

My Fiero goes from Fiero outer's to a Nissan Leaf gear box. I had a company cut and respline the inner ends to fit the length and the Nissan splines. The awesome part about it was that the diameter of the Fiero shaft (manual version) was just a hair larger than the Nissan diameter, so the respline was perfect.

It was really reasonable. I think it cost less than $200 for both axles that is including the shipping.

You will have to send them the shafts (CV joints will have to be completely disassembled, they don't disassemble or assemble the CV joints)

Send them a shaft of the F23 and mark which side you want the spline to match, along with the Fiero axle shafts and give as much as precise measurements on length you can give (so measure and remeasure and remeasure) before committing.

Something to be aware of. I don't know if it applies to the drivers side of a manual, but there are two different lengths being offered for the passenger side of a manual. Budgetman72 was repeatedly sheering the stub and nut off his passenger side during autocross events. Seems the parts store was selling him the short one and it would elongate and break the stub.

Moser does custom axles.

Just had them make an axle shaft for an LS swap.

They only deal with the shaft, will not disassemble and reassemble the entire axle.

I had the same issue after my F23 swap.
Here is the axle that worked for me.
2.4L Chevrolet Cavalier 1996 with manual transmission.
NAPA #NCV949052
34 spline inside 33 spline outside 23 35/64" compressed length

Comment deleted. Never mind. I've been reading this as the right side. That's why I said there were two different lengths.

Thanks everyone. I found a local axle shop that claims he can make me the correct length shafts next week. We will see

I gave him an OEM set of Fiero axles, and told him to make the driver side axle 28 mm longer, and the passenger side shaft 28mm shorter. Hopefully it fixes my issue

I am surprised that there aren't more people with F23 swaps with this issue
