Got the '88 GT out after a couple years slumber and man, I forgot how much fun this little car is! BUT, my daily driver is a '13 Mustang V6/6 speed, so I'm used to shifting more than I need to in the Fiero. Does anyone make a reverse lockout shifter/adapter/module so I can save my 5 speed reverse gears from unnecessary subconscious shifting?🥴 THANKS ------------------ JOE 4RE '88 Fiero GT Med. Red Metallic loaded 5 speed

Winston Xiao on facebook makes a gated shifter plate for the 5-speed Getrag. Perhaps you can buy one, and modify it with a flip-down gate to block the reverse gate. Or you can ask him to make you a custom one.
That said, the easier solution is to just pay more attention when driving. My Ford Ranger has a different shift pattern than my Fiero, and I'm not getting confused when I switch between the two.

Totally agree. My two daily drivers are my Formula and my right-hand drive Subie. Both are 5-spds. At first it was confusing as hell going from one car to the other... not only because it's necessary to shift with one's left hand in the Subie, but even the turn signal stalk is on the opposite side of the steering column. It's amazing though how one's brain just learns to adapt, and eventually everything becomes automatic and comfortable.[This message has been edited by Patrick (edited 08-06-2023).]
