Need some advice. I have an 86 GT. Few days ago, the coolant-radiator fan stopped working. It was wired by previous owner to run when ignition is on. I installed new fan motor, fan relay and checked fuses. There is power on the wires that go to the relay but no power at the connection where the fan motor plugs into. Not sure where else to look at. The Hayes manual is basically useless! Thanks for your time. By the way, the car does not over heat when the fan stopped working. I was driving for 2 days and the only reason I realized that it was not working is because the average engine temp went up about 10 degrees more when at traffic lights I then pulled over and realized that the fan was no bueno.
UPDATE: My AC is disconnected so I've never used it but as I experimented, the fan will turn on if I turn the AC on. It will turn off as I turn off the AC. I think this is normal? Maybe the fan is not wired to run full time (as I was told). If true, then why would the fan run continuously with ignition on for the 3 years that I had it and just die one day? Also, the old fan motor does in fact still work and when I turned the AC on with the old relay, it worked as long as the AC was on. Sorry for the dumb questions as I am a complete idiot when it comes to electrical work on cars.[This message has been edited by Rhodesia1977 (edited 08-28-2023).]

Here you go...
And Yes, it is normal to have full manual control of the Radator Fan using the A/C control and check the fan switch on the engine block (bottom on the page)
BTW - In 2003, I heard that my '88 GT Radiator Fan was "On" on a cold start with the A/C control "Off".
As the factory A/C stopped working (no cold air) and the compressor belt was removed years ago; I found that the A/C High Pressure Switch had shorted to ground causing the fan to run constantly.
By disconnect the A/C High Pressure Switch from the Compressor, the problem was solved, and the fan switch and the fan have been working properly after the event.

Engine is not overheating @ 210-230°F and dash gauge often is wrong w/ wiring & other problems.
