I have a Series 3 pulled from what I believe is a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. The oil pan has a bit more meat on the front and will not allow the fierorog bracket to clear, Im about 1/2 inch off. Going to the junk yard to get another, however, there is not any GTP or Regal GS. Can I use the NA oil pan from a regal or Pontiac grand prix Series 2 with FieroRog mounts?
Here is the oil pan. Hard to tell with the contrast, but the bracket is hitting the small piece circled.

You should be able to use the naturally aspirated (NA) oil pan from a Regal or Pontiac Grand Prix Series 2 with your FieroRog mounts. It's a common swap done by many Fiero owners. The shape and size of the oil pan from a Series 2 should accommodate the extra clearance you need. However, always double-check the mounts and clearances before finalizing the installation. Even if you have a 1/2 inch of space, it's always better to assure that there aren't any other potential fitment issues that could interrupt proper installation. It's also worth noting that swapping oil pans from different engines could require you to modify or change your oil pick up tube due to differences in the positioning and design between different engines. If I recall correctly one usually has to use a series 2 steel pan on a series 3 install. New ones are pretty cheap on Rockauto.
And at this age, does any of us want to open up an engine and expose it to the environment and ruin it for the next fellow enthusiast. Buy the new pan, 3800's are starting harder to find in good shape.[This message has been edited by jelly2m8 (edited 09-09-2023).]

I have a series 3 swap in my Fiero. It has the std OEM cast pan and it clears everything. Could be that the mounts I used have something to do with it. I used WCF mounts and brackets. Fierorog mounts are different and perhaps cut only for the steel pan. ------------------ " THE BLACK PARALYZER" -87GT 3800SC Series III engine, custom ZZP /Frozen Boost Intercooler setup, 3.4" Pulley, Northstar TB, LS1 MAF, 3" Spintech/Hedman Exhaust, P-log Manifold, Autolite 104's, MSD wires, Custom CAI, 4T65eHD w. custom axles, Champion Radiator, S10 Brake Booster, HP Tuners VCM Suite. My aluminum oil pan issues with the 2000 GTP swap. Read all posts in the link, Good info. And I still have the Aluminum pan sitting in the garage & never used. Time to put it in the For Sale section.
