4 speed Swap (Page 1/1)
BruhMans06 SEP 26, 12:06 PM
So I've been trying to find options for a manual transmission that will hold up to an LS. Gone are the days of cheap F40s and the F23 is also hard to find. I was thinking of swapping in a getrag 5 speed from another fiero but apparently it can't hold up very well to v8 swaps, but I've heard very good things about the 4 speed that came in some fiero models.

I would take anyone of the engines in a heartbeat, the issue I'm hitting is I can't find a single one for under $1500 in my area. Anyone willing to sell in the Wisconsin/Milwaukee Area?

Are you looking for a full Fiero, or just the 4-Speed manual transmission? Sorry, it wasn't totally clear. If you want a full car, there are plenty that pop up here in Florida on a regular basis... but they're all usually quite a bit more than $1,500. For $1,500... you're probably looking at a total rat.

Didn't Tina have a 5 speed getrag?
I don't think she ever blew up her tranny.

She ran the Isuzu 5 speed, and fragged a bunch of them. Eventually she switched to the F40 and I don't think that transmission has failed since

She once said she was running the Isuzu because they were cheap and plentiful.

At one time she had an 84 4-speed with a reinforcing cage around the case. I saw it at the Dells sometime around 2011.
