7730 DIS Code 32 (Page 1/2)
fierofool SEP 28, 07:15 PM
I have a 3.4 with a 7730 DIS setup. From the get-go, I've had a recurring Code 32. I usually have to drive about a mile to a mile and a half then it pops on. Usually it stays on for the duration of the drive, but sometimes it will go off for any length of time, maybe to come back on later. There's no pattern, except that when I first hit the road it takes a mile or so before it sets.

I've changed the digital EGR valve for two others that I have. Same thing. Because it will sometimes stay off for 10 to 20 miles, I know it isn't electrical. I messaged with Sinister about the problem and he suggested removing the EGR tube restrictor orifice underneath the intake.

Has anyone else had this issue? If you have and resolved the problem, what was the solution. Has anyone just left the restrictor orifice out from the beginning? Any issues with doing that?

Check the plastic lines that go to the EGR solenoid for cracks and splits. Also check the rubber connectors.

I had a constant Code 32 on one of my Fieros (stock engine & ECU). I found a badly dry-rotted rubber elbow and a split plastic line under the intake manifold. I used heat shrink tubing on the line and some acquarium air piping for a connector to cobble a repair until I could replace the line and find a new pipe and proper elbow.

Mike, I have done the full 7730 conversion that removes the old electro-pneumatic EGR solenoid and valve and replaced it with a digital EGR valve. There are no vacuum lines associated with the emissions system.

On my other car that still has stock vacuum lines, I have done the heat shrink repair on the line between the fuel pressure regulator and MAP sensor, plus replaced a rubber elbow underneath the throttle body.

Does it run any differently when the light is on?

Not that I've noticed.

I kind of suspect it may be wired incorrectly. There are 3 solenoids on the digital EGR valve. There are also 3 wires to the ECM, so it grounds through the exhaust mount. I suspect that Gabe may have mistakenly swapped a couple of wires.

When Scott separated the melted wires from the crossover heat shield, he repaired the wires one at a time to prevent crossing them. I believe Jason did the same when he cleaned up the conversion harness.

The solenoids have specific lettering, so the circuit for each must go to a given pinout on the ECM. The code has been there from very early on. I don't remember if it was among the batch that was showing up in the beginning, or if it popped up later. There were about a half dozen codes in the early stages.

I know it can be programmed out and disabled, but I prefer not to.

I believe I traced them back to the correct spots to the ECM. I remember doing this for every single wire on your harness. They should be in the correct spots according to the schematics that I was supplied with.

I will say it again, get rid of the EGR altogether. It has been nothing but a problem for you. I will even weld the exhaust up for ya!

I currently also have this problem with my 3.4l, but with stock setup - mine also takes a few miles at highway speeds before it sets the code. No code driving around town, only seems to happen at a specific speed/RPM after xx time.

Trying to get TunerPro to record/playback - however I keep getting a error when trying to load the recording. Seems to be an issue for a few people according the the TunerPro forums, but no one has a solution. Probably try WinALDL next and see if that will work.

I am using a Beretta ECM, so I've been thinking that when I remove the restrictor orifice in the EGR tube I will have one on hand for a Beretta and also one for a Camaro/Firebird, to see if they are different sizes than the stock Fiero restrictor.

I know that the exhaust opening to the base of the digital valve is larger than what's in the adapter plate that we produced, so maybe the ECM is reading it as if the valve isn't opening enough. That, combined with a smaller restrictor orifice may compound the problem.

Last weekend we did Run For The Hills. The light stayed on for a good part of the run, but there were times when it went off and stayed off for long periods of time. Run For The Hills is a blend of hard acceleration and braking and some good straight stretches. Like a 215-mile NASCAR road course. The random off and on is the puzzling part. Mostly on, but randomly off.

What bin file, ADX, XDF are you running? Some of the xdf are more defined than others even in the same code mask. S_AUJP V5 $8D has many tables that can be adjusted to get the desired results. S_AUJP V6 can do boost if needed.
