Help Needed: Electrical Issue Post 3800 Engine Swap (Page 1/1)

Hey Fiero Community,

In the final stretch of my 87 Fiero's 3800 engine swap, I hit a snag. Initially, connecting the fusible link brought power to the interior, but the headlights didn't cooperate. I took the fusable link apart and re-did the connections – now, there's no power to the fuse box / interior despite having 12v on both sides of the post.

Anyone faced a similar situation during an engine swap? Power loss to the fuse box has me stumped. Checked connections, fuses, and wiring, but no luck. Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Eager to get back on the road.

Here is the current fusable link connection is this correct?

I get 12.57v on the battery side and 11.97 on the other side. My test light flashes on the small side. bright on the battery (large) side

There should be a jumper bar between the two posts of the Battery Junction Terminal.....

Thank you. Do you know where I can get or what it is called, for the terminal end with two loops?

The alternator lead from any 85-88 Fiero has one, or the you can make one from a piece of brass or copper.

Thanks this is solved. Two issues found.

One missing the lead on the alternator wire (fixed)
Bad ground on the engine. I sanded and remounted the ground then every thing worked as expected.

I would suggest that the engine be grounded directly to the battery, and the spaceframe via the driver side hinge box.

The battery should also be grounded to the spaceframe.
