Been awhile since I repaired a motor and can't remember how to get the gear out to replace those 3 pins, I'm trying to fix the passenger side, do I have to remove the armature/brushes, or by taking the cap off the gear can I remove it, seems to be stuck.

Been awhile since I repaired a headlight motor too as I replaced the dampers in 2005...

But these links can help:

P side guts are exact same as D side but output rod exit other side.

Many Carefully push/pry big gear out then Carefully slot the "rim" for 3-4 teeth to get it back in. Only 2 teeth need nearly full slotting

See https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/128600.html before you install harder pins/dowels like Delrin that's same to harder then the gear.

Even then old motors often have other problems & why many buy Cardone rebuild or new Gen2 motors.

The Gen 2 headlight motors are an easy fix, basically pulling the center driver member out from the gear and replacing the three dowel pins. While I've done them and rebuilds do work, I view these rebuilds a short term fix as the rest of the assembly is over 30 years old but for a show/collectible car it should be good.

That video is kinda painfull, but it did answer my question, on how to get the gear out. I did this before and I surely didn't grind any teeth off, so thanks for the video, it shows the secret to getting the gear out. Since it is a good idea to check the wear on the brushes, as long as you have the Assembly out, that's what I did. It can be a little tricky getting them depressed and everything back together, but I'd hate to install new dowl pins and later discover the motor doesn't work because the brushes need replacing.
