88 rear brake caliper won't retract all the way? (Page 1/1)

I have a spongy brake pedal and decided to change the master, pads, bleed system, lube sliders and inspect all of the calipers.
I got to the passenger side rear, but the piston won't retract far enough to put the Bridge back on over the new pads?
I made sure the park brake lever was seated against the stop (unlocked) and scred the piston in. It visibly retracted as I turned the piston, but stopped at a point and won't retract any further?
Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Ok, I got the piston in. Not sure why it matters, but I pulled the park brake lever several times to extend the piston out (without pads). I did not measure how far out or how many pulls of the park brake,..... The piston seemed to be out far enough to simulate worn-out pads. I then screwed the piston in again and the piston retracted plenty far enough to put the new pads in. In my best Eddie voice "I don't know Clark"
On to the next challenge
