Hello
I have a 1987 SE 5-speed V6
On my way home today I noticed the service engine soon light come on
Just yesterday I had changed my engine oil at the distance of 5,000km
I dont have an owners manual and google doesn't seem to understand what I'm asking it so I was wondering if this light is a reminder to change your oil or if it was warning me of somthing about to fail like a check engine light
Only had my car for about 2 months and this is the second oil change it's gotten, 1 when I bought it and 1 yesterday.
If it is just reminding me to do an oil change how to I get it to turn off?
Thanks

Yes it's still on. Stays on solid after starting the car. I will follow your instructions and get back to you with the code
Thanks[This message has been edited by Fatfarmer (edited 10-13-2023).]

There are several ways (all documented here) to check the continuity of the windings in the TPS. If the TPS itself checks out, then the harness and/or connector could be suspect.

If you downloaded the PDF of the 87 Service Manual, TPS diagnostics are on pages 6E3-A-32 to 35. All you need is a digital voltmeter.
To clear codes from the ECM disconnect power to the computer. You can pull TOP LEFT fuse, or disconnect/reconnect power connector near the battery.
