Does the Fiero use those grey plastic / nylon door striker bushings? (Page 1/1) |

I am new to the Fiero world. My 88 GT does not have the door striker bushings, and I was wondering if they are supposed to and have just broken off over the years.
If they are supposed to have them, anyone have a part number?
Thank you again, Phil

I assume you're talking about this? If so, it does not have a bushing.

That's the one! My driver side one looks a little chewed up. I guess it is time to replace.
Thanks!

Do a search for door strikers. There is another option other than the stock striker

When my Fiero was basically "new" ... I was the 3rd owner, but the car only had 47k miles on it, and the car had sat in storage for over a decade as it passed hands between two CIA employees that had taken overseas assignments, and didn't get to drive it much. It was an 87 that I bought in early 96. So it was only 9 years old with 47k miles on it... and both doors had those plastic sleeves. So they are original... but they do wear out (intentionally). The doors tend to sag over the years, so you'll want to rebuild the door hinges, and THEN replace those bushings (as Fiero Fool said).
