Hello! BACKGROUND; So my 85 Fiero has been chopped and modified into a 2001 Lamborghini Diablo. I moved the whole front engine/trans and suspension from a CAdillac DTS with the 4.6L Northstar to the rear of my car. This also gave me 11.8" rotors in the rear with the tiny 9" non-vented rotors from the fiero up front.. Obviously not ideal. So I did a C4 Corvette brake conversion giving me 12" rotors up front.
QUESTION: has anyone swapped out their Master cyclinder with a 99-04 Mustang with Hydro-boost? Looks like they can be had used for about $220 or reman for about $350. I have a few guys that built like the Cobra Kit cars and they used them with great results. Just been told the Fiero MC will likely not be able to provide decent pressure to the size rotors I'm using. Not to mention the vacuum is quite different on the N* than the Fiero Engine.
If anyone had done a brake upgrade even I would be interested in hearing how well thats worked out using the stock Fiero Master cyclinder. Thanks.

Boggles me how you think installing a hydro boost booster is anywhere near as easy as pluming the vacuum to the engine to the bulkhead..
Pressure to the calipers is determined by the Master cylinder and proportioning valve....

I don't know of anyone ever using hydroboost on a fiero, we don't have power steering. But good luck to you. Interesting.

I've swapped the Fiero engine with a Northstar so I do have power steering. Just curious how hard the install might be. I've also done a front brake upgrade to 12" rotors from a 1985 Corvette so I have very large rotors front and back and just a bit concerned the stock Fiero system will be able to apply enough pressure for the brake upgrades Ive done.

I dont expect the install to be easier. I'm more concerned with the Stock Fiero system being ablet to apply enough brake pressure for the upgrades I've made. The cadillac DTS which was the two front wheels are now my back so large 12" rotors and I've upgraded the front to 1985 Corvette rotors so 12.8" front rotors. I can adjust the proportioning valve to balance front and rear but not adjust it to make more pressure.

Just to be clear - did you replace the steering rack with one that is intended to function with power assist?
Because if all you've done is swapped in a Northstar, you do not have power steering; nor could you unless you install a new/different steering rack in the front.

One thing that may be worth looking into is the Bosch Gen2 IBosters, it's an electronic booster that's used on newer Honda's and Tesla's. If I remember correctly there wasn't anything too fancy about wiring it up, power, ground, and I think a controller to tell it how much "assist" you want.

If the answer is no and you're dead set on a hydro booster, try using a Volvo PS pump. It's basically just a small electric PS pump that can be placed up front instead of running lines all the way up to the rack------------------ Black 88 GT, a 19 year old here about 20 years to late - Running(?) LQ1 Swap-
