Looking to get pointed in the right directions as to where I can find some replacement lifters for my 1993 LQ1.
Engine sat for a while, cams look good but moisture has compromised the lifter surface beyond my comfort level, black and brown surface staining and grittiness on the foot of the lifter.
So far I have found the Qualcast 362273. But it is out of stock most places.
I have also found the EngineTech L2273 But can't confirm fitment.
I'm new the LQ1 game it's currently on fiero cradle waiting to get slotted into my 86GT
Posted this over on the WBodies Forum, but I think that forum is a lot quieter than good ole pennocks.
Thanks

Have you checked Rock Auto? I've found Rock Auto to be almost PERFECT when it comes to parts... if you know the exact car that the LQ1 came from, you can look on RockAuto.COM for that car and it'll tell you all the lifters that are available.
Only once... did I find a part that I ordered from Rock Auto that was incorrect for my car. It was for my 2002 Ford Explorer Sport. It was an odd year because Ford continued to produce the OLD Ford Explorer in one factory, and the NEW model Ford Explorer in another factory, and sold them both as 2002 models. The 2002 models were only available as the Sport (2-door) and Sport-Track (pick-up truck kind). And the new 4-dor was under the newer body style that was 2002-2010. They did this from 2002-2003, until everything switched over to the new body style in 2004. I ordered a set of rear hatch glass shocks, and they sent me the ones for the newer car, rather than for the Sport (even though I ordered it for the sport). The guy at Rock Auto I talked to was actually being nasty, because he says... "Look kid, I get these calls all the time, and not ONCE have I ever seen a part not be for the correct car, you're ordering wrong." And after I talked to the guy for another 10 minutes, assuring him that there were two different cars, and they have it wrong... he did a bunch of research with me on the phone, and then was profusely apologetic. He said he'd never seen this before in the ~6 years he'd worked for Rock Auto... hahahaha...

Yup, no lifter available, but thats how I sourced that qualcast part number. Really what I need to know now is if quad 4 lifters fit a 1st gen 35mm lq1

Was that you who posted in the FB LQ1 group?
I can't answer your question regarding the Quad 4 pieces, but I'm guessing that the L2273 is going to be the same application.[This message has been edited by Raydar (edited 02-05-2024).]

The information on Rock Auto is mostly wrong. The ipart#s you list are for type 2 lifters for 96-97 engines. They are 33mm in diameter, not the 35mm you need. I have a set of used 35mm lifters I don't need, PM me if you are interested and we can work out the details. Rick

Thanks Rick, but I dont think used lifters should ever be mixed with a used cam. Especially flat tappets.

I'm sure happy that you jumped in. I've generally had good experience looking up part #s and "crosses" on Rockauto. But obviously not in this case. I'm glad I didn't lead anyone "into the ditch". Thanks!
