Hi!!
I'm having an issue with my '87 gt... the dome and floor lights, cig lighter, and horn all don't work. They have never worked, I'm just finally getting around to working on it.
I have checked the fuse that all of them are connected to, the battery fuse. It wasn't blown to start off with but I replaced it just in case, still it didn't fix the issue. The bulbs in the dome have been replaced and still don't work. Brand new alternator and battery, and all other electrical things on the car work fine.
Edit: replaced the floor lights and they work fine, so that's no longer an issue. I attempted to replace the cig lighter to see if that was the problem but the replacement I bought at auto zone didn't fit at all so I just reconnected it after putting everything back together. Checked the fuses again, turns out the bat fuse had blown. I replaced it, it immediately blew again so I disconnected the cig lighter and replaced it again and it was fine. Horn and dome lights are still not working. I looked over the rest of the car for anything else that doesn't look like it's working and the only other thing I find is the trunk light still doesn't work even after replacing it just a few hrs ago.[This message has been edited by Calc799 (edited 02-06-2024).]

Have you checked all the other fuses, perhaps you checked the wrong one, nothing wrong with checking every single fuse. That one should be a yellow 20 amp fuse.

I'll check them all again, I used a diagram to figure out which one it is so only changed that one but I'll give it a look.

You replace the lighter that plugs in or whole thing?
The Lighter Socket can rust or crap falls in & often blows the fuse.
Since Pull & Unplug the Socket then Replace the fuse. Yes should stop blowing it.
see https://web.archive.org/web...ierocave/lighter.htm
Note: Foot lights can work "weird" w/ that fuse blown. see cave Sneak Path page.

I tried to replace the whole thing cause it's super corroded and rusted, but the part I bought didn't fit at all so I just reconnected it. When I reconnected it the fuse blew, so I disconnected it again and left it off. The fuse doesn't blow with it disconnected. I replaced the fuse but still no luck, the dome lights & horn still don't work.

horn is on Batt fuse... Horn(s), relay or somewhere in S-column is likely bad. See cave horn.
trunk light has a plug near right lid hinge. unplug that, jump wht/org wire on body side to ground, check light. BETTER jump w/ another light. Not LED test light. Both Should light but dim. If new bulb is LED, may be install backward.

Dome light is on another fuse but first... turn the dash dimmer wheel full up/down open the other door
If doom is On then Jam switch is bad.

Tried all that... messing with the dimmer wheel doesn't do anything to it. It adjust the dash lights like normal but nothing I've tried so far works for the dome.

No, the only lights inside of the car that work are the floor lights & the dash/gauge lights[This message has been edited by Calc799 (edited 02-06-2024).]
